Minutes for Telephone Conference January 20th
Attending:
Randy from Fleet Safety International
Mona from Drivers Edge
Brent – Contract instructor
Randy provided an update of activities for the past year including:
Goal One: Bring up awareness of the organization to other driving schools and driving instructors
Progress: Current president attended and spoke at 5 different events during the 2008 year to promote the association
Goal Two: Provide members with additional value for being a member
Progress: A new website is in development. The website is http://www.drivereducatorsofalberta.com/ Current president has been attending Alberta Government Driver Advisory meetings. Minutes of those meetings are posted on the website
Goal Three: Create better communication between members
Progress: The website is a great way to communicate efficiently and effectively to members
Telephone conference call will occur 2 or 3 times year providing updates. Once a year, annual general meeting s occur in the fall of every year.
New Business – How to increase awareness and membership in the association
Plan:
1. Start putting resources into the membership resource section – each of us will send in some resources and Randy will load on to the site
2. Encourage membership of regular instructors through
3. Mini workshop to be planned at next telephone conference on March 3, 2009 at 10:00 AM
a. Find some willing committee members to plan the workshop
b. Randy has donated the use of his 3 classroom spaces for the workshop – helping to make the workshop cost effective
c. Registration can be done through Randy’s office
